I always wait to take pictures on my return trip. The dam is a great midpoint rest with some fantastic views of Shasta Lake upstream and the Sacramento River downstream. I cuddled all the way to the base of the Shasta Dam, then I made my way up the short stretch of roadway to the dam itself. I picked up an e-bike at Pedigo on main Street in Reading. but I think this trail is easily doable on a conventional bike if you are good at manipulating the gear shift.
I did the trail on an e-bike, and I got a little assist going up some of the hills. Maybe one of the best bike trails on the planet.
